A journey through Italy: a wine & food pairing evening on Friday 6th November

Join us at our Bermondsey smokery on Friday 6th November at 7pm for an evening of Italian wine, food and discovery as we take you on a journey through Italy, one glass at a time.

We’ll explore six (yes, six!)  unusual and characterful Italian wines, travelling from north to south and discovering lesser-known grape varieties, regions and styles along the way.

Joining us will be Mel Ellison and Claire Cocks, both established editors and contributors to Decanter Magazine. They’ll share their knowledge and insight into the wines, regions and stories behind each glass.

Our tasting will explore a fascinating range of Italian wine styles, from elegant sparkling wine and intriguing orange wine to expressive whites and characterful reds. We’ll look at its region, grape variety and winemaking style, as well as what to expect in the glass. Through our focus interesting wines chosen to surprise and delight we’ll broaden your understanding of the country’s extraordinary wine culture.

The wines will be paired throughout the evening with a selection of our own smoked salmon and charcuterie, created and prepared by our team, and chosen to complement each wine and demonstrate how pairings can transform the experience of tasting. We’ll explore the interaction of acidity, texture, richness and seasoning, from the delicate smoked salmon to the deeper savoury flavours of charcuterie.

An evening of Italian wine, great food, conversation and discovery, suitable for both enthusiastic wine lovers and those simply looking to learn more while enjoying something delicious.
